Liberal Islamic Alliance
The leaders of the Liberal Islamic Alliance called upon the countrymen to stop foreign interference and said, “We will solve our problems.” The leaders said that the country is passing through a transitional period. After the liberation war, the defeated forces and traitors within the government created the atmosphere to kill the father of the nation, the descendants of these defeated enemies and traitors have united again. There is no option for the countrymen to unite against this evil force. Leaders of six political parties said these things at a press conference on the occasion of the official announcement of the new alliance called Liberal Islamic Alliance at the National Press Club on Monday, September 4, 2023 AD.
Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), Chairman. Shahjada Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari read the written statement on behalf of the six-party alliance, Chairman of Bangladesh Islami Oikyajot, Misbaur Rahman Chowdhury. Besides, Ashekan e Auliya Oikya Parishad Bangladesh Chairman Shah Sufi Syed Alam Noori Al Sureshwari, Bangladesh Jandal (BJD) Chairman Md Mahbubur Rahman Joy Chowdhury, Krishak Sramik Party (KSP) Chairman Farahnaz Haque Chowdhury and National Awami Party (NAP Bhasani) – Liberal Islamic Alliance. In a written statement, the leaders said, despite the many developments in the past decade, a group of corrupt, dishonest business syndicates and bureaucrats within the government have smuggled huge sums of money abroad. Compared to the developing countries of the world suffering from the Russo-Ukraine war, the economy of Bangladesh is still very stable. But the syndicated mafia traders artificially increase the prices of daily necessities and make the countrymen hungry. Demanding strict action against these dishonest businessmen and corrupt bureaucrats, he said that if they are not strict against them, they will end up looting the country. Recently the Nobel laureate Dr. Rejecting the statements of 130 prominent people of the world, especially Hillary Clinton, regarding the case of Yunus in the labor court, the leaders said that these statements included naked interference in Bangladesh’s independent judiciary, justice for oppressed people and internal affairs. They said we are on behalf of the oppressed, women workers have approached the court to get justice. They also have a right to justice. This intervention will hinder the empowerment of women.
Leaders of the Liberal Islamic Alliance, strongly criticized the Bangladeshi missions abroad, saying that they could not expose the international community to radical terrorist groups and conspirators as expected by the countrymen. Regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections, they said that the Liberal Islamic Alliance wants participatory, fair and acceptable elections in the country, but does not want the caretaker system. Urging the Election Commission to start discussions with all political parties and alliances, they said, our alliance will field candidates from all seats in the country. We want everyone including the BNP to come to the polls. People want peace, not bloodshed. The government must create an environment for everyone to participate in elections.
Dr. Shahjada Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari was elected as the chairman and Misbaur Rahman Chowdhury as the executive chairman and spokesperson and the rest of the party leaders were elected as co-chairmen. Co-Chairman Farhanaz Haque Chowdhury was given the responsibility of coordinator. 9 point demands were presented in the press conference.
1. At least 5 crore middle class and low income people should be provided purchasing facilities at low prices by subsidizing the daily essentials – especially rice, pulses, flour, oil, onion and salt.
2. The owners of syndicated price gouging should be arrested and strict action should be taken against the hoarders who increase the prices without any reason and there should be an accountable market system.
3. All political parties should be given proper opportunity to hold peaceful meetings. Spontaneous suffrage of the people must be ensured.
4. City corporations are showing failure to eradicate/eliminate or control dengue mosquitoes. A task force led by the Mayors of the City Corporation should be formed immediately and a swift operation should be carried out. Similarly, measures should be taken in all cities, municipalities and unions of the country.
5. Prohibited polythene bag manufacturers and users should be arrested and manufacturing companies should be sealed.
6. Those who spread false propaganda against the armed forces of the country should be quickly arrested and prosecuted.
7. Further amendments should be made to the amended Cyber Security Act in consultation with all concerned to stop its misuse completely.
8. The list of all banned organizations, names, addresses and activities of their leaders should be made known to the people.
9. To stop irregularities and corruption in the education and health sectors, public hearings should be taken.
The press conference was attended by the general secretaries of all parties belonging to the Liberal Islamic Alliance and senior leaders. In the written statement, the leaders also said that their alliance is not only an electoral alliance, but an alliance of like-minded liberals in favor of the liberation war. After a long discussion with many parties, we have reached the conclusion that six parties and some other registered and unregistered political parties will soon join our alliance. They said that this alliance will introduce new politics and new thinking in Bangladesh. It will unite the countrymen on the path of truth and peace. The leaders of the alliance promised to stand by the people for justice and not to be a victim of anyone.
